FAQ's

How do I order a meal?

We've made ordering with housebites really simple. Just enter your postcode to see what chefs are cooking that deliver to your area. Choose the meal you want and any sides/desserts/beverages etc - then order. Choose when you want it delivered and follow the steps to pay.

Please note, if ordering from more than one chef, we cannot guarantee your orders arriving at the same time.

What type of chefs cook for housebites?

We have a variety of chefs from a variety of backgrounds. The golden rule is that they have to cook really tasty food. We have many chefs that have worked in some famous restaurant such as The Ivy, Fifteen, Barra Fina etc. But we also have many that are cooking enthusiasts.

All our chefs have been put to the taste test before we let them loose on you. But if you have any doubts you can see the chefs' biographies and customer feedback to reassure you.

How do I become a housebites chef?

You can apply to be a housebites CHEF here. We taste all our chef's food and try to take along 'beta tasters' (customers can request to be a beta taster) to taste and review their food.

How do you know they're so good?

See above. But ultimately you decide. A chef's feedback will ultimately determine the number of orders they can process. If a chef is receiving negative feedback, it's likely they'll fall out of the system.

Do I have to tip?

No. Our chefs and deliverers don't expect this. However, you are more than welcome to offer a tip to the deliverer if you so wish.

Is there a minimum order?

There's no minimum order value but for free delivery you do need to spend £15. If your meal comes to less than that we do have to add a £2.50 delivery charge.

Is there a delivery charge?

Not if you spend £15 or more – otherwise it's £2.50.

Can I collect?

We can only deliver to addresses local to the chef. This varies per chef depending on their resources. But if there's a chef outside of your immediate area or if it's easier for you, you can collect from many of our chefs. It will show above their schedule on the 'meal' page if it's possible to collect.

How is the food packaged?

We package our meals in cartons that hold hot food for at least 15 minutes. Food is never out delivery longer than this as chefs can only serve their local area.

The driver was rude?

Really? We pride ourselves on bucking the trend here. But if they really were rude, offensive or not to your liking in some other way we do want to hear about it. Please notify us on the feedback form you get by email after receiving your order.

What if my food is late?

It can happen. We're not perfect. If it's late tell us. We'll ensure you're fairly looked after.

What if my food is cold?

Unless you've ordered a cold meal we really want your food to be hot on arrival. If it's not, please tell us and we'll resend another meal or refund you.

Why aren't you in my area?

We're trying our hardest to launch new areas. Ideally we don't launch chefs until we have a cluster so that customers have choice. If we're not in your area, please enter your details in the 'Coming Soon To Your Area' section of the meals page and we'll notify you as soon as we are.

I don't have much choice in my area?

We're sorry, it could just be an unlucky night where we don't have so many chefs on. We are constantly recruiting chefs and trying to fill in those holes. If you think you're area could be improved please contact us

Are your chefs regulated?

Yes. All our chefs are registered with their local authority and subject to inspections. They are also all insured and have at least a Level 2 Hygiene Certificate. Not only that but Housebites Limited have the right to inspect their premises as well.

Can I use housebites for dinner parties?

If you want great food with minimum effort, then yes. However, we do recommend that you order at least a day in advance if catering for large numbers.
