Wesley is clearly a very good cook. however there was one thing i was not happy about - i do not eat spicy food and the beef stew was very spicy to my taste but it was not mentioned in the dish description. if i knew it would be spicy i would have ordered something else. - Sveta,N1

The positive is the food! The food was really nice, the steak was perfect and everything else was really tasteful! Something to improve is the packaging. The sauce from two containers leaked out and the fish (packed the same as chips in a kebab shop) got torn apart and mixed with the sides - it was impossible to take the bones out and couldn't be eaten in total. The lamb was very tasty and came a little pink in the middle (just how I like it) but it was quite fatty and the portion was a bit small. The peppercorn sauce was a bit bland though, I thought. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal tonight. The pie was outstanding, absolutely delicious. It came with really yummy spring onion mash and my children had the chunky chips which were also yummy. It would be great if you could figure out a way to keep the pastry top of the pie crisp, as during the delivery process it gets quite soggy from the pie juices but other than that I could not fault this ultra delicious meal and will definitely be ordering from this chef again. - Tina,N10

Wesley's Beef Stew was very tasty, though quite watery. The consistency of it was much better when I had the left overs the next day. The accompanying mashed potato with spring onion was rather yummy :) The Herb Rice was fine, though it was nothing more fancy than plain rice with a few fresh herbs mixed in. I thought it was quite expensive for what it was. That said, of the three times I've ordered from Housebites, the consistency of Wesley's rice was the best compared to the other two chefs. Wesley's Banana Cake was delicious. A really moist and not too sweet cake. The custard was also lovely, and the portion sizes were very generous. - Bonny,N5

Wow, that was fantastic, the food arrived fast and hot. It tasted gorgeous and there was no feeling guilty afterwards for eating take-away. I had the beef stew and it was delicious with a nice peppery kick, while my OH had the Rib eye steak. It was cooked to perfection. The portion size was just right and I love the fact that we can order quality food at reasonable take away prices. Will definitely be ditching the stash of menus I have accumulated over the years and sticking to this yummier and healthier option. Ah! My first meal back in London was absolutely divine. Wesley brought over a piping hot feast -- the fish cakes were moist and light and the homemade chili sauce was fragrant with freshly squeezed lime. I hate to confirm hype from companies that say they offer the 'best takeaway' or the best of anything for that matter, but thanks to Wesley, this actually was the best takeaway I've ever had! I hate coleslaw and potato salad - bad memories of the school canteen from childhood - but Wesley's versions of these were divine. The jerk chicken was also great, I was worried about it being a bit small as I was really hungry, but it was an extremely generous portion more than enough for a substantial bit of tucker. The mutton curry was exceptionally tasty - maybe a tiny bit more salt than I would have preferred - but excellent nonetheless. Roast fish also wonderfully flavourful, with an imaginative combination of vegetables. The rice was very good also, and the fried plantains an unexpected bonus. As a couple we love cooking, but having two small children (one just a few weeks old), it is harder to find the time to cook something special these days and totally impossible to go out; so having freshly prepared and very high quality food delivered was a real treat. This evenings supper didnt disappoint - as expected. To start we had fishcakes - that are fanatastic. Wesleys jerk chicken is a favourite of mine, its a really hot and juicy feast that always leaves you feeling sated. Tonight my girlfriend chose it, and enjoyed as much I do. I had reservations about ordering steak for delivery, but this remained moist, hot and was well seasoned. Potato gratin with spinach was a fine accompaniment. The Banana cake was as lovely as ever. This was our first order, and the food was excellent, delivered by the chef himself, a plus! The curry had a rich and medium spicy taste, mutton was soft, and there was plenty of it. Ryb-eye steak was cooked medium rare, just how we like it. Peppercorn sauce was thick and had plenty of bits making it spicy and crunchy. For my husband's birthday we ordered the rib eye steak with spring onion mash, the steamed, whole fish, and a side order of plantain. Everyone is right, the creamy spring onion mash is AMAZING. Probably one of the tastiest things I've eaten in a long time. And i love my food. The plantain was equally awesome and perfectly cooked: soft and sweet on the inside and crispy on the outside. My husband really enjoyed his rib-eye and my whole fish was delicious along with the rice and peas and cooked vegies. As someone has pointed out before I'd only say that the callaloo and okra stuffing was a bit too salty for my liking. But still wonderfully cooked overall. Wesley delivered the food himself and even gave us two slices of his soft, delicious banana cake and custard as a surprise extra. I'd asked for the lamb cutlets to be pink and they were beautifully so. The steak pie was delicious and tender but quite a lot too salty for my taste. Otherwise everything was absolutely delicious. The food was really good: tasty, large portions that were a step above the usual take out selection. After my first order of the same food, this second one was a little disappointing. The stew came in a different (and leaking) container, there seemed to be less of it and it contained more green peppers than before and less meat. It was also far more spicey than before. Maybe the first order had set up overly high expectations and I will order again but this time it didn't hit the mark. The coleslaw was too rich and creamy for my tastes and wasn't tangy enough. Jerk chicken was burnt up...and I mean burnt up for even Jerk, the rice (and peas) was very dry un-eatable. Way too much oil used in the lamb. Way too much butter and salt used in the mash. Also, all the food was lukewarm at best when it arrived. It would be better if you gave customers options of chef, as this is the second time I've ordered food from this chef, and it seems to be getting worse. As a "takeaway" meal, this was the best alternative from pizza, Indian or Chinese - the usual basics. The fish was delicious and Wesley kindly removed the heads from both sea bass. We're a bit squeamish about fish! The portions of chips were to die for and quite unnecessary with this meal but we had to try them. The puddings were delicious although we had little room, but we finished them. We almost had that Christmas day feeling. Everything had flavour and no MSG! Given that I had used a discount, this was definately not the equivalent of a takeaway on price... £20 worth of takeaway would buy considerably more. We loved the meal - beef pie, creamy mash and chips. Not to mention free treacle sponge cake and custard! A really wonderful delicious dinner. My cousin said he would have liked more pastry with the pie - it was just a pastry lid, but no base or (partial/full) sides. But that's cos he's a bit mad about pastry. The pie was particularly good - nice chunks of carrot, mushroom and onion. Very good quality beef. The quantity of mash was just huge - you could have fed a small family from the single-person serving. The chips were good but you need to be aware there's much less of that than the mash - a smallish one-person serving. The treacle sponge cake was sublime. I didn't really have space for it to be honest, so I thought I would just have a forkful. It wasn't possible to stop at one... Everything was perfectly packaged and still steaming hot. My fridge freezer broke down which meant I had absolutely no food in the house. By chance, I read a small piece in The Guardian. I'm so pleased I happened to see it. What a change from the usual delivered meal. The fish was exquisite. Despite the journey to my plate, it was moist and flaky and the vegetable rice accompanying it was delicious. I'm worried the chocolate mousse was too much of a treat and could become addictive.... The portion sizes were extremely generous. I've been very impressed by Housebites and - so far - had an excellent experience all round. But I must say that, this time, I was disappointed. The food was fine, but certainly not as I've come to expect of Housebites chefs. My main course (chicken) was perfectly adequate, but fairly bland and uninteresting. My chocolate mousse, however, was quite awful, and I could only eat one spoonful. With the texture and taste of Angel Delight, it isn't well represented by the picture that whetted my appetite. I was looking forward to the pudding most of all, and it could have been the redeeming feature, but it wasn't! I'm not normally one to worry about presentation, but my food really didn't look like what I can see on here, though the portions were big and hot, and the food was delivered on time and by a friendly chef. It was our first order and we were delighted to receive our food hot and on time personally delivered by Wesley. We were first struck by the quantity of food that arrived ( no less than 4 portions of rice, when we only ordered one) and the very generous portions of chicken, pork, ratatoille. In terms of value for money it was great as we managed to eat lunch the next day as well as dinner! meal was piping despite travelling to get it, oxtail was tender and the flavors delicious the banana cake was a perfect desert...really felt like scrummy home cooked food rather than greasy overpriced takeaway :) - daniel,N16

Hi, last night I tried for the first time a housebite meal and it was fantastic. Although usually I don't prefer spicy food, the curry goat was excelent, the gravy was rich and the meat was very tasty. It all went along beautifully with a delicious succulent coleslaw on the side. Wesley's banana cake was the high point of the meal, as I am a big fan of home baked cakes. All in all, the food was extremely delicious and I enjoyed every (house)bite. :D Definitely I will try it again. Marina - Marina,N7

Absolutely amazing. You're on to a winner here. The extras were a nice touch - custard, plantains, yoghurt - very unexpected and much appreciated. Food was warm and delicious. My only slight niggle is that you were early - like 20 minutes early - and we were still finishing up a meeting! But a very small criticism and I would rather you be early than late.
