The food arrived late, it was due between 8.30-9pm but arrived a little after 9.15pm. This was the 2nd time that we had ordered from Pascal and again it was late. Plus there was no apology note or anything. The food was good, although the portions were bit on the small side. Unfortunately it was lukewarm and being food that is difficult to microwave, we just had to deal with the lukewarm food,which compromised the quality and put a bit of a damper on our Valentine's evening. We had made a special request of chocolate pudding instead of the white chocolate pannacotta that was on the menu. He however ignored our request and sent us the pannacotta anyway, only it was not white chocolate but infant passion fruit pannacota which is not what was on the menu. Again no note to let its know about this... what if we were allergic or hated passion fruit?? Luckily we were ok with it so we ate it but when it arrived it was melted, so we had to place it in the freezer to retain its texture. He may want to invest in some cool and hot bags or containers that could retain their appropriate temperature for the food that he is serving as it really compromises the quality. All in all a disappointment. We will not be ordering from Pascal again...shame because there are only a few chefs in our area, and we love the idea of Housebites. - Lehni Lamide,SW16

Very disappointing. The sausages were of a poor quality and had a slightly musty taste to them; lumpy mash with too much mustard; the gnocchi appeared to have just been heated up, very little taste; dauphinoise also seemed to be victim to the microwave too. Good corn cakes mind you. Basically, Housebites is a very good idea but for it to work the quality really has to be there. Even if that means paying more. Our food last night was not a treat, which essentially is what good takeaway should be. Get higher end ingredients, actually cook it to order and charge more would be my advice. - John,SW18

It's tough to give feedback as I really liked the concept when I heard about it and wanted to enjoy the experience but found it just like every other takeaway. I would say that maybe I am not target market as I very rarely order food to be delivered and love to cook myself but some of your marketing material suggested that it could be ordered for a dinner party and it really does not live up to those expectations. The side order of red cabbage was nice and the seasonal veg was tasty too. However, the mushroom wellington was disappointing. The mushrooms were dry and tough, perhaps due to overcooking, and there was too much nutmeg in the filling. Additionally, the spinach came out in clumps. I was not pleased with the main. I am rating this is average overall because I really enjoyed the cabbage and seasonal veg. The delivery was also slightly late, but I don't think that this is the fault of the chef. I remember Pascal from the days when he ran his own restaurant called the Passage Cafe- I am very pleased that he is still providing such great service. I ordered the MUSHROOM AND RICOTTA CANNELLONI as a main course, and the JUICY ROASTED FIGS WITH CHANTILLY CREAM for dessert. I think I struck Gold- both dishes were absolutely superb! I found the size of the portions perfect, as part of a multi-course meal, and although I am normally a big meat-eater- the dishes sounded so tasty, I went for it. I have to comment on the dessert; this may well be one of the finest I've ever had. If I had a date with a special woman, and I was going to cook for her in order to impress her- this is the dish I would do for dessert- it has a combination of flavours, combining sweetness from the figs with molasses sugar and a slight savoury flavour from the soya sauce, then completed with the cream- each mouthful was spectacular!! I hope this one stays on the menu for some time to come- I highly recommend it! The meal was delivered exactly on time, and Pascal checked on me to see if I was happy with everything. Starter was a bit confusing - not sure the strawberries worked in this instance, though this could be down to my not having tried gazpacho before... there were a lot of flavours fighting for attention and none of them really won! It was delivered 20 minutes early, which on this occasion wasn't a problem, but who's to say I'd be home 20 minutes early the next time? I chose Pascal because he had deserts on his menu. I prefer a sweet, rather than a starter. The main was very tasty, and the breast was still fairly moist, despite it's journey! I have a fairly energetic job, so would have preferred some more carbs/calories, especially for the price! Otherwise a lovely dish. Corn cakes were great. Guacamole had a nice kick to it, and the baby gem seemed very fresh. The chicken was very well cooked, juicy and well seasoned. Ideally I would've liked to have had something more adventurous like the pancakes, but they were sold out (I'll have to be quicker next time!). The Starter (Devils on horseback) was absolutely delicious. The Salted Cod was good whereby the Hollandaise Sauce was excellent. We were a little dissatisfied with the Pan Fried Chicken Breast as the dish itself was a bit bland which I believe is not down to the preparation but the choice of ingredients itself. Maybe put something a little more exciting on the menu instead. The first thing to say is that your drop down immediately above should have an "excellent" or "wow thank you" option. The second thing to say is that I think you're onto a winner. The clapham salad was really great: fresh, tasty, innovative flavour combinations and just the right balance of components together with beautiful dressing. It was genuinely revolutionary home delivered hot food. If you want some constructive criticism, then the only thing I can say is that the roast potatoes (at least I think they were roast potatoes) were cold and cardboardy (as even the best roast potatoes go once cool).
