Er... Why isn't everyone using housebites? What an amazing service. We both enjoyed our meals, and all for under £20 - wow. Absolutely wonderful! The chicken pie was more lemony than expected and utterly delicious. The mash was perfectly smooth and well seasoned. And the sticky toffee pudding was light and tasty without being too rich or sickly. I could have take a little more chilli with my greens but that's just a personal preference, not a complaint. Food was great, really delicious, the best takeaway food you will get. Also it was hot compared to most takeaways, which tend to be tepid. Although the meal was delivered late, it was clear that Danny the chef was genuinely rushed off his feet - a sign perhaps that Housebites could do with more chefs in the area? - and besides - compensation in the form of dessert was included. The food was delicious and hot. The pork could maybe have stood a little less cooking, but it was flavoursome, had a crunchy crackling crust and the butter beans which came with it were addictive. The greens - broccoli cooked in lemon and almonds, were a refreshing and tasty accompaniment. The cake, however, was astoundinly remarkable - the chocolate cake deep, dark and moistly dense, and the chantilly cream, with its black specks of vanilla, sweet and thick, together marrying to a heavenly combination. We loved our meal. Daniel delivered it on right on time, despite the snow that was falling. The root vegetable salad was delicious, colourful, tangy and had lots of interesting contrasting flavours. The greens were light and fresh, citrusy and just a little bit spicy. The gnocchi was really good. Perfect comfort food for a snowy evening, but not heavy at all. On a snowy evening our food arrived (hand delivered by Daniel on a freezing night on his bike - respect....!) bang on time and piping hot! In one word the food was sublime! The greens with chilli, lemon and almonds are just amazing and simply the best broccoli that we have tasted!! The red wine and beef pie was a perfect size - the pastry was crunchy and the inside filled with tender meat and lots of veg and gravy - the mash topped it off with style!! The meal was good except for one major issue - the mashed potato was extremely salty to the point of being almost inedible. A real shame. Not sure why it was necessary, as you can always add more salt at home, but you can't remove it if it's too much. We had the same problem the last time we ordered from housebites, so not sure if we'll be ordering again. The food was amazing. It came delivered by the chef himself and considering it was a very cold night the food was still hot. The quanitities were very generous - I couldn't finish mine although my husband finished his (and then mine..!!) We had the pork belly - crispy skin and tender meat. My brother in law had the coq au vin which he said was amazing. The greens were crisp and tasty and the (free) chocolate pud was divine - although we all 3 shared it as we were stuffed - definitely would not have managed one each!! Daniel delivered my meal himself (in the middle of a rainstorm) and exactly on time. It was of a high standard and arrived perfectly warm so did not require re-heating. Very sensibly the meat was packaged separately from the butter beans, which ensured that when I put the two together on the plate it looked like a home cooked meal rather than the mess that most take-aways appear. Quality of the cooking was high; the pork was tender, tasty and with an excellent crackling (yummy); the butter beans had a nice bite, as did the greens, which were fresh and bright. Everything was very flavoursome. One tiny criticism would be that there were slightly too many almonds in the greens to my liking. Housebites is a brilliant idea and I hope very much you succeed. Your prices seem very reasonable. This is what home delivery should be all about and so often isn't. - Jonathan,N1

A really lovely meal, the highlights were the dauphinoise potatoes which were just right and the coq au vin. The coq au vin tasted truly home cooked with great care and attention, and was a real treat. The greens were perfectly cooked, and the lemon was a great addition, something I will try myself. The chocolate and banana bread was really moist, and tasty, the kind of thing to cheer you up at the end of a long day at work. I really enjoyed the red cabbage but my partner, being German and a self confessed red cabbage connoisseur, felt like there was a touch of alcohol besides red wine that was a bit over powering. I hate cauliflower and didn't realise the risotto has this in it. However, found it creamy and light, really tasty. The spiced pork belly was perfect, tender and great with the butter beans. Well what can I say! So good! There are two appreciations to be made here: one from a French and another from a Portuguese: The coq au vin was succulent and the gratin dauphinois was parfait! I don't need to cross the channel anymore! (French) The Coq au vin was beautifully executed, with a delicious jus with very tender chunks of meat, that separated so nicely from the bone in very neat and tasty pieces- the flavours were very well balanced, with a good depth of warm spices that brought us lots of comfort on a cold Autumnal evening :) Then there was the dessert, and I have a sweet tooth! Dense dark chocolate cake, served warm, (not too sweet which I appreciate) marrying so well with a generous scoop of cream Chantilly with a beautiful hint of vanilla. And just to finish on top of scoop of Chantilly, the freshness of a sprinkle of mint leaves. Great combination! All the dishes were very well made and well presented. We really enjoyed the meal, but have a couple of points of constructive criticism. 1) the packaging could be slightly more efficient, eg the potatoes came in two boxes, could have been one. Also the branded paper wrap around the boxes is not functional - though we appreciate why you are doing it. 2) my girlfriend thought the potatoes were a bit too salty, although I am not so sure. - John,N7
