I really enjoy writing feedback when food is just so good. The best thing was definitely the quinoa crispy shrimps - was amazed to see how frying shrimps in quinoa worked out that tastefully. The cumin roasted carrots were soft in texture and sweet in taste - brilliant. There was a huge portion of rice and salad with the chicken. One thing i want to point out that was really good is the slightly spicy sauce - mild to your taste buds (i really dont like too spicy) and at the same time full of taste. This is one of the best meals we have ever had from the Housebites network of chefs, which we have been ordering from for over a year first in north London and now in south London. Davide is truly a talent, and we will most definitely be ordering from him again. Each dish was original, complex in character, and delicious. Our sincere compliments to the chef. From savoury to sweet (the Oreo cookie cheesecake was, we agree, to die for), Davide really impressed us and made a wonderful home meal for a Saturday night. We paired the meal with wine, a deep bodied Argentinian Cabernet with notes of chocolate and dark fruit, which went very nicely with the perfectly seasoned dishes from Davide. The meal arrived 30mins after the end of the delivery window. I called the service to ask about the delay and was first told my ordered hadn't gotten through because I entered the wrong payment information, and asked if I wanted to be charged again. After I insisted I had received a confirmation email, then my ordered miraculously reappeared. The operator did check with the driver but I had to wait over 5 mins on the phone to get this sorted. And no apologies in the end. When the food arrived, it was cold and soggy. Perhaps if it hadn't taken so long it would have been less bad. I ordered a side of wilted greens which were super salty and the salad dressing on my mixed salad tasted like something out of jar. My 'main' from the starter menu of quinoa covered crispy shrimps were not that exciting either. The 5 small shrimp were completely hidden in a nest of mixed greens, the battered was soggy and pealing off and the pepper sauce tasted rather artificial. I was very disappointed with the service and equally disappointed with the food. But to be fair to the chef, perhaps the delay in delivery didn't do the food any favors... - Alexandra,W1U

The meal arrived within the time slot but packaging left something to be desired. Plastic containers not the best way to present food (and it sometimes taintes the taste of food). Better to use Bioboxes for the veg than plastic. Food just warm - not sure how far it had travelled. 1. Chicken Hot Pot with Winter Veg and pearl barley seemed to missing the veg and had lots of pearl barley so looked a bit 'beige'. However, it was seasoned OK but nothing to write home about for £11.25 2. I ordered a portion of Fresh Greens, lightly pan-fried and finished with chilli, lemon and toasted pine nuts which tasted great but let down by (a) be only half the amount in the container that there should have been and (b) a portion of steamed broccoli and kale arriving as well (even though it did not have this published on the menu) so I spent £2.75 more than I should have done/could have done. The veg was well cooked though. 3. APPLE AND BLACKBERRY CRUMBLE was a little overfacing and too much for one - both in amount and price. The crumble topping had been added after baking, not during, and was not crisp as a baked crumble should be. Not a great rendition of a crumble. Home-made custard would have been better from a chef with vanilla pods used rather than essence. - Steve,SW1V

This was my first time using 'housebites' and overall, I'm impressed! My work colleague and I are in the office till 9pm every night so I guess you could call us takeaway connoisseurs. I took a chance with Davide's fish dish, but can honestly say that it's one of the best fish dishes I have had in years! My colleague had the stuffed chicken which was great and perfectly topped off with delicious pesto. The food could've been slightly warmer though. Overall, pure quality at great value. The Italian-style Stuffed Chicken was packed full of flavour, and the Poached Salmon with Roasted Vegetables really was truly impressive: its creamy green sauce made it into an exotic yet refreshingly simple dish. Delicious side salad of goats cheese, beetroot, rocket and walnut was the perfect accompaniment to wonderfully tender and fragrant beef bourguignon - but the best was saved for last, with Eton mess done JUST how it should be. We all felt that it was too like a regular takeaway. The plastic boxes were exactly the same as you would get a chinese takeaway in. So presentation not brilliant and so much packaging which was very ungreen. The taste of the food was good but we didn't felt it was worth what we had spent. Holy fucking shit. I'm not going to apologize for the language, because this meal was just that good. I am usually too busy to cook, so I eat out a lot at allegedly very good restaurants. Unfortunately, I often end up bored with what I'm eating, and sit there thinking "It's not inedible, but if my mouth could fall asleep right now, it would. I don't even want to chew--that's how bored I am. How is it that you looked so exciting on the menu, but taste so abjectly dull?" Davide, your menu looked simple on screen, but tasted sublime. You threw a fucking party in my mouth. Full story in detail: It's a warm summer evening. I'm bored of all the restaurants on my street, (despite living in Mayfair, an area saturated with eateries). Internet to the rescue--time to try Housebites. Davide's the only chef that delivers to my area, so it's an easy choice. I usually prefer fish dishes, but am tempted by the sound of the Pork Confit. Eaton mess sounds rather pedestrian, but there's nothing else for dessert, so I throw it in anyway and check out. Food arrives at exactly 8:00. Davide's already scoring more points than normal takeaways by virtue of punctuality alone. I'm handed a paper bag with a friendly smile and some coupons to boot. It isn't til I close the door that I realize it might actually have been the chef himself that delivered. I feel instantly bad that I didn't show some kind of recognition. But, it's too late now, so I head to the kitchen to unload. Davide's thrown in a complimentary gazpacho soup, a nice surprise. I spoon some into my mouth absentmindedly as I unpack the rest of the bag. I stop mid-motion as I realize that this is the best damn gazpacho I've ever had. It starts as a sweet tart lightness in your mouth, mellowed with buttery avocado and creme fraiche, spiked with firebursts of chilli that leave a glow of heat on your tongue. It's a summer sunset in a bowl. I spend the next ten minutes single-mindedly chasing those flavours until it's gone, and only then do I realize it came with savoury biscuits. They are also spectacular, perfectly crumbly and buttery. I move on to the pork belly. Soft, meaty goodness over smooth mash, with the richness cut nicely by the hint of apple and the cider sauce. I haven't had meat this well flavoured in a while. The greens on the side go perfectly. I can barely finish the generous portion, but soldier on because I just don't want to stop. Finally, dessert. It actually looks beautiful. When was the last time something that came in a plastic takeaway container arrived looking beautiful? Probably never, until Davide came to town. Three pretty meringues that crack tantalizingly under a tap of my fork, arranged over strawberries and cream, with flowers (lavender?) delicately scattered in between. I gather a little of everything onto my fork, and dive in. It's amazing. The meringues crumble sweetly into powder, with a little chew on the inside, and the strawberries and cream are in just the right proportion. Shit. Stop reading this gargantuan review and order from this man, right now. I’ve just finished my first meal from housebites — wow! This wasn’t just a cut above your average takeaway; it was in a different league. From the first mouthful of succulent salmon, I was in heaven. Davide even threw in a complementary mackerel dish, which was excellent. The lasagne was just perfect. The cheesecake was very good — a lovely texture and successful use of rum and raisin. Although I love Salcombe rum and raisin ice-cream, I was sceptical that this would work well in a cheesecake. This did. Basic things — the food arrived on time and was a good temperature. I think this is so important — it doesn’t matter if the food is amazing — if it arrives late and cold, then it counts for nothing. Being handed the food by the chef felt strangely privileged.
