CURRY

The word "curry" is an anglicised version of the Tamil word kari meaning 'sauce'. This is typical of what we in the UK perceive curry to be - an anglicised version of something traditional. All too often this probably means a few meagre chunks of gristly meat floating in a luminous gloopy sauce that either tastes of nothing or strips all of the lining from the inside of your mouth and throat in an attempt to look cool in front of others - and ending up quite the opposite! The most popular takeaway dish ordered in Britain today is, some say, the chicken tikka masala - so Indian it was invented by a Pakistani chef in Glasgow.

Well, there is none of this mass produced sludge in the takeaway curry menu at housebites. All of our Indian food is cooked in small batches by experienced cooks, using only the freshest ingredients and certainly none of those luminous unmentionable chemicals that creep into your local curry house ‘Indian’ food.

The other thing that we find annoying with the market at the moment is the perceived value at existing Indian/curry restaurants. How do you start with an £8 curry and end up with a £15 bill after just adding some rice and a naan?! Well at housebites we are offering a full meal across all of our main courses, so with a curry you would get rice included, maybe even a naan as well - all for the quoted price, and with our range of excellent chefs cooking great Indian food and currys, better and cheaper than you local chemically enhanced takeaway, why go anywhere else?
