CURRY
The word 'curry' is an Anglicised version of the Tamil word 'kari', meaning 'sauce'. But it's not just the word 'curry' that's been Anglicised by the UK; the food itself has also become commercialised, distorted, and unappetising. Today, curry in the UK is largely associated with a few meagre chunks of gristly meat floating in a luminous, gloopy sauce. And it either tastes of nothing, or strips all of the lining from the inside of your mouth and throat (whilst you're desperately trying to look cool in front of others). The most popular takeaway dish ordered in Britain today is, some say, chicken tikka masala; so Indian that it was invented by a Pakistani chef in Glasgow.
Well, there is none of this mass produced sludge in our takeaway curry menu at housebites. All of our Indian food is cooked in small batches by experienced cooks, who use only the freshest ingredients, and their curries certainly contain none of those luminous, unmentionable chemicals that creep into your local curry house's ‘Indian’ food.
The other thing that we find annoying with the market at the moment is the pricing of existing Indian/curry restaurants. How can you start with an £8 curry and end up with a £15 bill, after just adding some rice and a naan?! Well, at housebites we offer you a full meal across all of our main courses; so with a curry, you would get rice included, maybe even a naan as well, and all for the quoted price. So with our range of excellent chefs cooking traditional, Indian food and curries (which are infinitely better and cheaper than your local, chemically-enhanced takeaway), why go anywhere else?
