Hello, I'm Danny! I've been cooking for over 7 years and have honed my skills in Restaurants and Hotels in the south west of England such as Bailbrook House in Bath, The Dogs in Edinburgh and have worked as far afield as America and Australia

I am new to the capital and am constantly inspired by my new environment, for me Hackney is the perfect place to be with great food markets, butchers, fishmongers and of course lots of foodies to sample my cooking.

Usually I can be a ridiculous pedant and pick something out from a Housebites meal that I would change or isn't quite right; but not these couple of times. The chicken stew in particular was amazing. Although late it was hot, which always helps, the chicken breast risotto was terrific. I have to say the Gnocchi, was underwhelming, and the greens were exactly the same, which was a tad disappointing as I was trying to impress a client who had just flown in from the Far East. He enjoyed the pudding. It was certainly an improvement on the last meal. Please try to get greater variety into the menus, specially puddings,we don't all love chocolate! - GEORGIANA, N1

Amazing. The only thing it lacked was presentation...which was obviously our fault. Unfortunately we lack the skill to do it justice! Arrived nice and hot, too. One thing is that when entering your address and billing info, there's a box you can check to auto-fill the billing fields with the same info as the delivery fields. It didn't work and I had to fill everything in by hand and that was annoying. Also neither of our vouchers work, but I called up and they were really lovely and accommodating about it. Also it was difficult to see where the total amount paid was in the receipt email - could be more prominent. Was in a weird place. Other than that, with the voucher this was outstanding value for money...almost to the point where we felt guilty! Food was sooooo sosososososososo good - and not just one dish, but all of them! We got the mac'n'cheese (definitely big enough to be a main if paired with a side), the mushroom risotto with truffle and the green veg with lemon, chilli and almond. Everything tasted great, like an extremely good homemade meal (i wish i could cook this well). The mac'n'cheese wasn't too rich and had a nice kick of chilli (not too spicy at all), we could definitely taste (and smell!) the truffle in the risotto and this was a very large portion (we have half sitting in the fridge for tomorrow). The veg was fresh and a nice pairing with the richness of the other two dishes. Cannot complain!!! There is nothing 'takeaway' about this meal - fresh ingredients, great flavours, will definitely order again :) - Also, kudos to Daniel who was 5min late (I hadn't noticed) but immediately apologised and provided a free drink to compensate. Food was delicious and so good to be able to have takeaway food that was of such good quality. I ordered the meal for 2 and asked for the 2 different desserts that were on the menu. When it arrived we only had one of the desserts on the menu and an alternative dessert making up the second. It was chocolate brownie and ice cream and I had really been looking forward to my lemon posset! A little disappointing and if the desserts are always of the chefs choosing, maybe you could make that a little more clear on the website. Amazing! Great choice too - a couple of delicious sounding risottos, chicken or fish. I went for the fish - and thankyou so much to Daniel for a delicious samphire sea bass, potatoes and cauliflower cheese. All very generous servings too, and really lovely restaurant quality food, delivered on time, hot and ready to eat - even a free posh lemonade which was just a sweet extra touch. Arrived perfectly on time! I wonder how gourmet a take away can truly be but this was pretty much the highest grade quality I have had. Non pretentious, good wholesome food. Delivered by the chef who made the food and called me by my first name. Have recommended the service and chef to my friends through social networking. I ordered the venison and red wine pie with buttered potatoes and a portion of greens with chilli, lemon and almonds on the side. Overall the meal was excellent. The pie was a bit small although tasted exceptional. The potatoes were nice and buttery and came in a good portion size. The greens on the side were again delicious. Prompt, and very tasty! It arrived a bit on the lukewarm side, but perfectly edible (and not cold enough to make me zap it in the microwave). The burger was nice and moist, risotto a beautiful colour, and our green vegetables were great. My main criticism is not of Daniel's cooking but the cardboard Housebites packaging is maybe a bit unneccessary on all the boxes! Let's save the trees... - Geoff, E5

I ordered the Chicken Risotto, Roasted Beetroot and lemon & chilli greens. All three were fantastic, the Risotto was cooked perfectly retaining a small amount of bite and had absorbed some great flavours from the mushroom stock and wine. The Beetroot was delish -a great combo with the creamy goats cheese. Somehow Daniel also managed to make the green veg taste amazing as well with a bit of chilli, lemon and some toasted almonds- no small feat. Also, sign of a good chef- didn't put too much salt in the food and the let the taste of the dish speak for itself. 2 constructive feedback points. It would be good if the portion size could be increased slightly although you will need to get bigger plastic takeaway boxes. It would be good if the website gave headline nutritionals for each meal so users can make more informed healthy choices. Overall 9/10 and I'll definitely use again. - Lambro, E2

Risotto was perfectly cooked and seasoned, which I can barely do serving it hot so how the chef managed it AFTER it was delivered I have no idea. Chocolate cake was very very tasty too. If I had to pick ridiculously nit-picky thing to point out though (and I realise how ridiculous this is) but there was WAY too much cream with the choclate cake, seemed a bit of a waste. Everything was really tasty - especially the seabass dish which we thought was delicious. The cake would have been even nicer with a few berries. The greens were ok - a bit squidged. On the whole I would like to see slightly lighter more summery menus and garnishes given separately so the food looks fresher in presentation. The mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy, the tarragon chicken in tomato sauce was nicely flavoured and the chicken was tender, the haloumi and pumpkin salad was delicious but I would have liked a bit more pumpkin pieces for balance. Although the meal was delivered late, it was clear that Danny the chef was genuinely rushed off his feet - a sign perhaps that Housebites could do with more chefs in the area? - and besides - compensation in the form of dessert was included. The food was delicious and hot. The pork could maybe have stood a little less cooking, but it was flavoursome, had a crunchy crackling crust and the butter beans which came with it were addictive. The greens - broccoli cooked in lemon and almonds, were a refreshing and tasty accompaniment. The cake, however, was astoundinly remarkable - the chocolate cake deep, dark and moistly dense, and the chantilly cream, with its black specks of vanilla, sweet and thick, together marrying to a heavenly combination. On a snowy evening our food arrived (hand delivered by Daniel on a freezing night on his bike - respect....!) bang on time and piping hot! In one word the food was sublime! The greens with chilli, lemon and almonds are just amazing and simply the best broccoli that we have tasted!! The meal was good except for one major issue - the mashed potato was extremely salty to the point of being almost inedible. A real shame. Not sure why it was necessary, as you can always add more salt at home, but you can't remove it if it's too much. The food was amazing. It came delivered by the chef himself and considering it was a very cold night the food was still hot. The quanitities were very generous - I couldn't finish mine although my husband finished his (and then mine..!!) We had the pork belly - crispy skin and tender meat. The greens were crisp and tasty and the (free) chocolate pud was divine - although we all 3 shared it as we were stuffed - definitely would not have managed one each!! Daniel delivered my meal himself (in the middle of a rainstorm) and exactly on time. It was of a high standard and arrived perfectly warm so did not require re-heating. Very sensibly the meat was packaged separately from the butter beans, which ensured that when I put the two together on the plate it looked like a home cooked meal rather than the mess that most take-aways appear. Quality of the cooking was high; the pork was tender, tasty and with an excellent crackling (yummy); the butter beans had a nice bite, as did the greens, which were fresh and bright. Everything was very flavoursome. One tiny criticism would be that there were slightly too many almonds in the greens to my liking. Housebites is a brilliant idea and I hope very much you succeed. A really lovely meal, the highlights were the dauphinoise potatoes which were just right and the coq au vin. The coq au vin tasted truly home cooked with great care and attention, and was a real treat. The greens were perfectly cooked, and the lemon was a great addition, something I will try myself. Well what can I say! So good! There are two appreciations to be made here: one from a French and another from a Portuguese: The coq au vin was succulent and the gratin dauphinois was parfait! I don't need to cross the channel anymore! (French) The Coq au vin was beautifully executed, with a delicious jus with very tender chunks of meat, that separated so nicely from the bone in very neat and tasty pieces- the flavours were very well balanced, with a good depth of warm spices that brought us lots of comfort on a cold Autumnal evening :) Then there was the dessert, and I have a sweet tooth! Dense dark chocolate cake, served warm, (not too sweet which I appreciate) marrying so well with a generous scoop of cream Chantilly with a beautiful hint of vanilla. And just to finish on top of scoop of Chantilly, the freshness of a sprinkle of mint leaves. Great combination! All the dishes were very well made and well presented. We really enjoyed the meal, but have a couple of points of constructive criticism. 1) the packaging could be slightly more efficient, eg the potatoes came in two boxes, could have been one. Also the branded paper wrap around the boxes is not functional - though we appreciate why you are doing it. 2) my girlfriend thought the potatoes were a bit too salty, although I am not so sure. - John, N7

Danny's food was absolutely spectacular. I went for the coq au vin, red cabbage and chocolate cake, and it was perfectly executed brasserie food. It came promptly and he even added in some free stuff as well. You wouldn't get anything better than this anywhere in London in my opinion, and I'll definitely be ordering again - I've already got my eye on the pork belly! - Bob, N4
